Website Review of wsj.com

The website for The Wall Street Journal is a site that reflects an interesting combination of new and old, offering web specific features (such as real-time stock performance indicators) while still maintaining an aesthetic that mirrors the print version of their publication.

The home page for wsj.com does a decent job of supplying links to most areas you may want quick access to, as well as real time information relating to investments. Unfortunately, like many ’news’ sites, it dedicates too much real estate to advertisements. This is unfortunately the case even when you pay for a subscription. Their site does typically do an excellent job of providing interactive graphs with their articles, which adds a method of communicating information that is not available in traditional print.

I was unable to run a validation by URI due to a 504 error that produces.

When viewing the source code information on the wsj.com homepage, it appears chaotic, and I understand little about what is written. My hopes are by the end of this course, I’ll be able to understand at least a fraction of what is going on.
