Website Review of the hamster.dance/hamsterdance

I had a difficult time locating a website that contained an HTML audio or video element. Many of the sites I visit every day contain videos, but they all appeared as inline frames linking to YouTube or Vimeo. Playing audio when visiting a site seems like a poor design and user experience choice, something that went out of practice after MySpace was no longer popular. Then I remembered one of my very first meme experiences online, the hamster dance site!

It turns out the site is still online, or at least a version of it. This site even references the update tweak to embedded audio supported by recent browsers.

Overall, the site is poorly designed, serves very little purpose, has no interface or usability. That being said, the reason it was created is for nostalgia, and is serves that purpose well. As a result, I give it a 10 out of 10, and the Best Site of the Year Award for 2021.
