Website Review of the Thumbnails on reddit.com
Reddit uses image thumbnails as a component of a link to each individual thread. The thumbnail will provide a small preview of an image (or other media form) next to a text description of the thread. Clicking on that image enlarges the image, and provides access to the thread comments. This design elevates it above a normal message board system where only text is included as a link to the thread. This design services this purpose well, and is very easy to understand.
